Exempt: the St. Louis County Charter, Section 6.040, adopted November 6, 1979 states in part that “the minimum training and educational standards established by the Commission shall not apply to any person who served as a firefighter for 12 consecutive months prior to the adoption of this section.” Therefore, any individual who served as a firefighter for 12 consecutive months prior to November 6, 1979, is exempt from being required to meet the established standards.
